Retrieving Your Device ID

There are a number of options to get your device ID:

By following the directions in the My Account section of the website to add your device to the 'Unlicensed Devices' list in your account.

A video guide for this method is below.

- Install iViewer4 on the device

  1. Go into 'Settings' on your iOS device and find 'iViewer4' in the application list
  2. Select iViewer4 and in the GUI File URL, enter id.commandfusion.com
  3. Then ensure 'Reload GUI Layout' is enabled
  4. Ensure iViewer app is not already running
  5. Launch iViewer and it will load up an interface for you to enter your account details
  6. Enter your account email and press the Add to Account button
  7. The device will then be added to your account under Unlicensed Devices.

Other Methods

  1. By loading a dynamic GUI following the steps in the next section below, and having the new ID emailed to you.
  2. From the guiDesigner Upload Service window
    1. When attempting to load a GUI onto the device, the guiDesigner Upload Service will show the new Device ID of the device that you can copy/paste for registrations.
    2. Check that the Device ID given by guiDesigner is in the correct format - in some cases the old format is reported. If the old ID is reported, please use the email method outlined below.

We recommend using the first method shown in the video above, as this does not require any copy/pasting, so less chance of error. But if for some reason you need to get the ID through another method, you can follow these steps below to retrieve your Device ID via email:

  1. Install iViewer4 on the device
  2. Go into 'Settings' on your iOS device and find 'iViewer4' in the application list
  3. Select iViewer4 and in the GUI File URL, enter emailid.commandfusion.com
  4. Then ensure 'Reload GUI Layout' is enabled
  5. Ensure iViewer app is not already running
  6. Launch iViewer and it will load up an interface for you to enter your email address
  7. Enter your email and press the 'Email Device ID' button
  8. You will then receive an email containing the new Device ID you must use when registering your device.

If for some reason the GUI is not loading, please make sure you fully close iViewer first to ensure it is not running in the background. Then launch it again.

Problems with Device IDs

In the past, iViewer licensing used the physical hardware device ID. Apple has decided to no longer allow iOS applications to access this ID, so we have been forced to update our licensing system to use our own software-generated device ID.

For all device registrations, you must get the new Device ID. The ID that is shown in iTunes will no longer work for our licensing system.

The new Device ID format is as follows:
********-****-****-****-************ - 36 characters including hyphens.
Where each asterisk represents a number or uppercase character.
For example: 69C77487-7041-3DC2-9F95-F63A0A5B8FC4.

To retrieve your new device ID you will need to use one of the methods shown above, then use the transfer function in the My Account section to transfer the license to the new device ID.
